Kushtia, January 23 (IU Correspondent/OurVoice) – A group of students of Islamic University in Kushtia vandalised a bus of SB Pariban early Thursday.

The incident happened on Kushtia-Khulna Highway in front of the university’s main entrance at around 12:30 am.

Campus sources said that 13 students of the IU Geography and Environmental Science department got on the bus after talking to the bus counter on Wednesday. In the meantime, another 15 students of the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department also got on the bus without talking to the bus counter.

The bus supervisor, later, asked the 15 students of the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department to get off from there.

An altercation between the supervisor and the students took place over the issue.

The students, as a sequel to the altercation, halted the way of the bus in front of the university’s main entrance and vandalised its glasses.

Later, IU Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s coordinators rushed to the spot and prohibited the students from vandalising the glasses.

The general students, at one point, engaged in fisticuffing with the coordinators over the issue.

A team of IU proctorial body went to the spot just after receiving the news of vandalism, said proctor Professor Shahinuzzaman. They were looking into the matter, he said, adding that action would be taken after investigating the incident.
