Islamic Arabic University (IAU) authorities on Thursday condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza through a human chain, terming the actions of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) as genocide and urging the international community to take swift measures to halt the bloodshed.
The human chain was formed in front of the university located at Bosila of Mohammadpur in Dhaka. The university expressed grave concern over the widespread killing of civilians, particularly women and children and the indiscriminate destruction of homes and infrastructure in Gaza, said a press release signed by IAU's Public Relations Office acting director Mohammad Ali.
Addressing the human chain, IAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shamsul Alam said that they organised the human chain in order to express solidarity with the outraged people of Bangladesh and the world in protest against the barbaric and heinous attacks by Israel on Gaza in Palestine.

"People all over the world are witnessing the indiscriminate killing of innocent Palestinians and the atrocities of attacks on their homes," he remarked.

Kamil (Post-Graduate) Education, Training and Research Center Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Wali Ullah said that the  world leaders should raise their voice against the brutal attack on the people of Gaza in Palestine.
If the attack had been carried out on the people of other religions except Islam, the people of all walks of life from different religions would have protested it across the world.
He urged the UN and other leaders across the world to stand by the people of Gaza.

IAU Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Dr Shahidul Islam and Professor Dr Muhammad Abu Zafor Khan, Treasurer ASM Mamunur Rahman Khalili, Kamil (Post-Graduate) Education, Training and Research Center Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Wali Ullah, Registrar M Ayub Hossain, Controller of Examinations Mohammad Ali, among others, were present on the occasion.
