Islamic University celebrates 45th founding anniversary
Kushtia, November 25 (Correspondent/OurVoice) – The authorities of Islamic University celebrated the University Day on the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary on the campus in Kushtia on Monday.
The daylong celebration included hoisting of the national and university flags, releasing pigeons, procession, cutting cakes, discussion and cultural programmes.
Marking the day, the IU vice-chancellor Professor Nakib M Nasrullah hoisted the national flag, while IU Day celebration committee convener Professor Alinur Rahman hoisted the university flag in the morning.
The VC inaugurated the programmes releasing pigeons and balloons in the sky.
Later, teachers, students, officers and employees brought out a procession led by the IU VC from the university’s administration building, which ended in front of the foundation stone chattar after parading main roads of the campus.
The VC, later, placed a floral wreath at the university's foundation stone chattar.
Following which, the VC attended a discussion programme as chief guest at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium.
A cultural event was held at the auditorium participated by teachers and students of different departments of the university.
IU theology faculty dean Professor ABM Siddiqur Rahman Asrafi, proctor Professor M Shahinuzzaman and IIER director Professor Iqbal Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
The Islamic University started its journey on November 22, 1979 in Gazipur on a campus presently used by the National University.
