NDB Demands the Extension of Registration Deadline

Dhaka, April 15 (Special Correspondent/OurVoice): Leaders of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB have demanded an extension of the registration deadline from the Election Commission.
While collecting the application form at the Election Commission under the leadership of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB Chairman Momin Mahadi, they voiced this demand on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Momin Mahadi said, “We are witnessing activities at the Election Commission reminiscent of the fugitive fascist regime. But that should not be the case. It was promised that the Election Commission of Bangladesh would provide all kinds of opportunities and support to genuinely people-oriented political platforms and move forward with sincere dedication. Today, their behavior has deeply saddened and disappointed us.”
Momin Mahadi further stated, “They issued a circular on March 10, stating that applications must be submitted by April 20. What kind of circular is this? How is it possible to submit an application with signatures of nearly 25,000 voters from 102 upazilas across 22 districts, including the central committee, within just 19 working days? The few who managed to do so don’t believe in politics, but in viral publicity. Therefore, through you, we are calling upon the Election Commission to extend the registration application deadline.”
Among others Acting Secretary General Nipun Mistry, Joint Secretary General Monir Zaman and Organizing Secretary Wazed Rana were present.
It is noteworthy that since its founding on December 30, 2012 Natundhara Bangladesh NDB has applied twice for registration over the past 13 years, but has been deprived of registration due to the authoritarian policies of the fascist government. In 2018, Natundhara Chairman Momin Mahadi was abducted. Believing he had died, the responsible force of the then-government left him in Segunbagicha 11 days after abduction. After 21 days of treatment, he recovered.
