Hindu Aid UK holds Annual General Meeting in London

Hindu Aid UK held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday at Hyderabad Paradise in London, bringing together members, coordinators, and supporters to reflect on the past year’s humanitarian work and to outline plans for the future.

The meeting was inaugurated by Dr Sukanta Maitra, Chief Coordinator of Hindu Aid UK, who welcomed attendees and reiterated the organisation’s mission to serve with dignity, unity, and compassion. He emphasised the inclusive ethos of Hindu Aid UK, encouraging broad participation from all who share the organisation’s values.

Admin Coordinator Anupam Saha presented the minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting (AGM) and summarised key accomplishments over the past year, including a successful Gala Dinner, a residential Hindu youth camp, and various food distribution drives in both local and international settings. He also delivered the Annual Progress Report, spotlighting volunteer-led initiatives carried out since March 2024.

Treasurer Sujoy Saha presented the financial report, while Tapan Saha outlined the organisation’s strategic vision and future plans. Departmental updates followed, with contributions from various team leads: Anupam Saha detailed administrative and financial operations; Shuchishmita Maitra provided an update on youth engagement; Nandita Saha submitted a cultural team report online; and Dip Sharma reflected on the success of the Gala Dinner Magazine. Overseas projects were presented by Shantanu Dasgupta, and Mihir Sarkar shared progress on current initiatives, highlighting the organisation’s growth.

Additional project updates were delivered by Pilton Dey, while Kamol Saha proposed new initiatives focusing on yoga and mindfulness. Future suggestions were also tabled by members, including Adhir Das, Ajit Saha, and Head of Public Relations, Chinmoy Chowdhury.

The AGM also underscored Hindu Aid UK’s commitment to inclusivity, with Ajit Saha highlighting the sewing machine project as an example of community empowerment. A wide range of strategic proposals was submitted by members, including Sujit Sen, Dipankar Sarker, Amitave Banik, Ranjit Saha, Prosonjit Paul, Narayan Bhattacharjee, Provangshu Majumder, Anagh Roy, and Shamal Datta. Dr Sunil Roy extended heartfelt thanks to all participants for their ongoing dedication.

The meeting concluded with the formal announcement of the new Working Committee, presented by Anupam Saha, and the introduction of the new Board of Trustees by Ajit Saha. Dr Maitra congratulated the incoming team, which includes new committee members Debashish Banik and Barrister Shuvagata Dey.
