MPhil, PhD Intake Tests at IU on Friday

Kushtia, February 17 (Correspondent/OurVoice): The authorities of Islamic University are going to take admission tests for its Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy programmes under 2019-20 academic sessions on the campus in Kushtia on Friday.
However, the admission process of the previous admission tests of MPhil and PhD programmes held on August 3, 2019 was yet to be completed, according to teachers and officials of the university.
The admission tests will start at every department at 10:30 am on that day, a press release signed by IU Acting Registrar M Ataur Rahman said.
A total of 110 candidates will appear in the tests this year. Among them, 56 students will appear at MPhil test while 54 students will appear at PhD test, IU academic office said on Wednesday.
The university authorities have already sent the candidates text messages over mobile phone and asked them to appear in the tests in time.
A group of teachers of ruling Awami League-supporting Shapla Forum alleged that the university authorities had hurriedly taken the decision regarding the tests without discussing the matter in the academic council meeting.
The university could not take the test as the admission process of its previous admission test held on August 3, 2019 was yet to be completed, they alleged.
According to the MPhil and PhD rules, the admission tests will be conducted by the central postgraduate admission test committee (PATC). But the university decided to take the test at its respective department this year.
IUTA President Professor Kazi Akhtar Hossain said that the university administration should have taken the decision after discussing the matter at the academic council meeting.
Denying the allegation, IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam said that they took the decision after discussing the matter at academic council meeting of the university.
