Mmultilingual Int’l Literary Magazine from Bangladesh

Dhaka, May 17 (Special Correspondent/OurVoice): The first ever multilingual international magazine ‘The Archer’ was launched online on Sunday.
Eminent writer Selina Hossain and poet Kamal Chowdhury have launched the magazine. The launching program was attended, among others, by the Editor-in-Chief Dr. Masuduzzaman, Editor Dr. Rashid Askari, Executive Editor Anna Maria Stepien, Associate Editor Sikandar Ali and Assistant Editor Mainul Islam Manik.
The magazine is a digital one crafted using flipbook technology. The 208-page first issue of the magazine contains the works of 51 writers from 35 countries in the world which include 43 poems, 5 short stories, 1 memoir and 2 essays with their respective translations. Selina Hossain says, “This sort of magazine will represent Bangladeshi literature and culture in the global literary scene.”
Kamal Chowdhury says, “The magazine has immense potential if it maintains global standards and regularity in publication.” The chief editor poet and translator Masuduzzaman said that The Archer is the first ever multilingual international literary magazine in Bangladesh and he would employ all-out effort to take the magazine to new heights.
Eminent writer and columnist Dr. Rashid Askari hosted the virtual program and outlined the aims and objectives of the magazine. He said, “The aim of this magazine is to showcase the works of writers, poets, essayists and translators of different languages and countries in the world. It will juxtapose the works of Bangladeshi writers and the international writers with a view to creating a confluence of myriad literary and cultural factors. It will, on one hand, represent Bangladeshi literature overseas and promote the way of building bridges between countries through literary and cultural exchanges on the other. Our ultimate goal is to create a global literary and cultural community by way of sharing multifarious literary and cultural experiences.”
