Job Seekers Demonstrate at Islamic University

Kushtia, June 27 (Correspondent/OurVoice): A group of job seekers, who are working at different offices of Islamic University as daily basis, demonstrated on the campus in Kushtia on Sunday demanding recruiting them permanently.

Around 30 job seekers gathered adjacent to the university’s administration building and observed a sit-in programme there around 12:00 pm.

Many of the job seekers are the former activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League Islamic University unit.

No university buses could leave the campus for 40 minutes due to the sit-in programme observed by the job seekers on the road.

A team of IU proctorial body went to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control but they failed.

Later, they withdrew their agitation after IU Treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya has assured them of looking into the matter.

The university authorities formed a seven member committee to look into the matter of the job seekers, Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya said.

They would take further steps after getting report from the body, he added.
