IUJA Condemns Rozina’s Arrest and Harassment
Kushtia, May 20 (Correspondent/OurVoice): The Islamic University Journalists’ Association has strongly condemned the confinement of Rozina Islam, a senior reporter of the daily Prothom Alo, in the Health Ministry while performing her professional duties on Monday.
IUJA President Humayun Kabir Jibon and its General Secretary Irfan Mahmud Rana issued the condemnation in a joint statement on Thursday.
The persons involved in the incident had committed a heinous act with the journalist in a pre-planned manner that was really threat to the independent journalism.
They called for the immediate withdrawal of the case filed against the journalist, who is known for a number of investigating reports on corruption and irregularities including that of the health sector, and her unconditional release.
They also urged the government to take appropriate action against those involved in the incident, the release added.
