IU Halls Reopen on Oct 9, In-Person Classes from Oct 20

Kushtia, October 04 (Correspondent/OurVoice): The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia decided to reopen its residential halls for its students on October 9, IU information publication and public relations office director M Ataul Haque said on Monday.

The regular classes of all departments will resume from October 20.

The decision was made at the university’s 263rd syndicate meeting held at VC’s residence with Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam was in the chair.

The students would have to show their Covid-19 vaccination certificate of first dose before moving to the halls and attending the classes, Ataul said.

The central library of the university, however, would reopen on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The students will not be allowed to stay at ‘gana room’ as it may cause a surge in Covid infections, said IU VC Shaikh Abdus Salam.

The university authorities had already taken preparation to reopen the halls for its students, he said.

Among others, IU VC, Pro-VC Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya and Acting Registrar M Ataur Rahman were present in the meeting.

Earlier, a group of students demonstrated on the campus demanding reopening the halls for the students on September 30.
