IU Folklore Studies dept gets new chairman

Assistant Professor Dr Shibli Chowdhury has been appointed the new chairman of Folklore Studies department of Islamic University in Kushtia.

A press release, signed by IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan, was issued in this regard on Wednesday.

IU vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam appointed him to the post for next three years as the tenure of the department’s former chairman assistant Professor Mustafizur Rahman came to an end.

The newly appointed chairman said, ‘I’ll try my level best to carry out my responsibilities properly. I along with my colleagues will attempt to remove the session jam that affected the students during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. In order to internationalize the standard of the department’s syllabus, teaching method, research, and other amenities for the students, I’ll take initiative to communicate with the department of Folklore of different world-famous universities,’ he said.

The university authorities, teachers and deans of different faculties and students of various departments congratulated him on this achievement.
