IU Assistant Registrar Abdul Aziz Obtains PhD Degree

M Abdul Aziz, an assistant registrar of controller of examinations office of Islamic University in Kushtia, obtained PhD degree under Theology and Islamic Studies faculty of the university.

The university authorities approved the degree at its 256th syndicate meeting held on the campus with the university vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam in the chair, IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan said on Friday.

Abdul Aziz was awarded the degree for his research entitled ‘Traditional Laws of Maintenance of Parents: Islamic Perspective.’ He completed his PhD degree under the supervision of IU Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department Professor Syed Maksudur Rahman.

In his research, he has highlighted that in the current society, parents are subjected to neglect and torture to get maintenance from their children, which is a serious crime in the eyes of religious and prevailing laws of the country.

Action, according to the act, would be taken if any children did not bear or care for their parents.
