4 Arrested for Cutting Bread on Bangabandhu’s Birthday

Chapai Nawabgonj, March 18 (Nuhu Alam, Gomastapur Correspondent/ OurVoice): Gomastapur police arrested four madrasa teachers for allegedly cutting bread instead of cake at Gomastapur sarcastically celebrating Bangabandhu’s birthday. 

Two people were arrested from the madrasa at around 12 noon on Wednesday and 2 people were arrested in the evening for being involved in the incident.  The detainees are Bourtala Madrasha Superintendent Abdus Salam (55), Golam Kabir (48), Ajmal (52) and Kutubul Islam (50).

It is learned that on the 101st birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day, Super Abdus Salam organized a controversial and sarcastic cutting of bread instead of cake. A teacher of that madrasa Golam Kabir spread that program on Facebook Live. The locals informed the Gomastapur police station after seeing the controversial and satirical event on Facebook. 

The OC of Gomstapur Police Station said, Super Abdus Salam of Boalia Bourtala Dakhil Madrasa celebrated the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by cutting bread instead of cake in a sarcastic manner to make it controversial and the event was made live from the Facebook ID of teacher Golam Kabir. They also made controversial remarks on Facebook Live. The OC added, Yunus Ali, General Secretary of Boalia UP Awami League, filed a case as a plaintiff. They were sent to court on Thursday.
