World Egg Day Celebrated at BAU

Mymensingh, October 17 (BAU Correspondent/OurVoice): The teachers, students and employees of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (AH) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) celebrated World Egg Day with much enthusiasm and festivity on the campus on Thursday.

A colorful procession with different types of poster, festoon and placard started from the faculty building parading main roads of the campus and ended at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium.

Later a seminar titled ‘Eggs for Healthy and Intelligent Nation’ was held at the auditorium. BAU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Lutful Hassan addressed the seminar as chief guest while Dean of Animal Husbandry Faculty Professor Dr. Md Nurul Islam and Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Dr. Nathu Ram Sarker were special guests. Head of Poultry Science Department Professor Dr. Md Elias Hossain presided over the program.

Professor Dr. Md Shawkat Ali of Poultry Science Department presented the keynote presentation. In the keynote Professor Dr. Ali said, ‘It is very important for people of any age to eat eggs every day. Egg is a complete food which contains protein, all vitamins (except vitamin C) and all essential minerals as well as energy. Egg helps formation of strong muscle, children brain development, promotes good vision, develop a good immune system, reduces body weight and reduces heart diseases. To get healthy body and sound life people have to consume at least one egg per day.’
