A workshop on ‘Role of Food Engineers in Ensuring Food Safety and Nutrition for Healthy Nation’ and annual general meeting- 2019 was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
Bangladesh Agricultural University Nutrition Club (BAU-NC) organized the workshop on Friday. President of BAU-NC Md. Ruhul Amin chaired the program while Students’ Affairs Adviser of BAU Prof Dr. Soliman Ali Fakir was present as chief guest. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof Dr. Md. Nurul Hoque, Head of Food Technology and Rural Industries Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman Mazumder and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID) Md. Shahid Uddin Akbar were present as special guests.
Adviser of BAU-NC Prof Dr. Mohammad Gulzar Aziz presented the keynote on the program. He said, ‘People are dependent on agriculture since the beginning of the world. So food production and processing is very important. Besides, food safety, nutrition and value practice are the new challenges on agriculture.’
He also said that food science, food nutrition, food technology and chemical food engineering are the current trend on food safety management.
After workshop, BAU-NC declared their new committee. Tanjilur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan were nominated as President and General Secretary respectively. There are also 25 active members in various posts in the newly formed committee.
