Workshop on ‘agro-products’ held at Islamic University

Kushtia, September 12 (IU Correspondent/OurVoice): A day-long workshop entitled ‘food utilization, quality processing and preservation technique of agro-products at household level’ was held at Islamic University in Kushtia on Monday.

Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council and IU applied nutrition and food technology department jointly ogranised the workshop at the virtual classroom of ICT cell of the university.

IU pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Mahbubur Rahman addressed the programme as chief guest with IU applied nutrition and food technology department chairman Professor Sheikh Abdur Rauf was in the chair.

BARC’s nutrition department chief scientist Jakiyah Rahman Moni conducted the workshop while Professor M Ahsan Ullah Ambia, director of IU ICT cell, spoke here as special guest.

While addressing the programme, the speakers shed lights on the use of agricultural products and quality processing at the household level. They also gave emphasis on conservation strategies to prevent wastage of agricultural products.

A training session was also held there, while applied nutrition and food technology department chairman Professor Sheikh Abdur Rauf, BARC’s nutrition department director Rafikul Islam, IU applied nutrition and food technology department Professors ATM Mijanur Rahman, Asad-Ud-Daula, Selim Reza and BARC’s scientist Jakiyah Rahman Moni trained around one hundred teachers of different schools and deputy assistant agriculture officers of Kushtia district.
