Task Force to Assess Quality of Milk and Dairy Products

Mymensingh, 22 July (OurVoice): There has been a concern across the country regarding the quality of milk and dairy products recently. This creates some confusion to public. In light of this, a task force was formed in Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).

By the instruction of BAU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Lutful Hassan, the taskforce was formed with the teachers of different departments of the university on Thursday.

The activities of the task force is to collect milk and dairy products from various farms, establishments and various places, evaluate its quality, submit a detailed report with a rapidly researched result and provide relevant recommendations.

All the necessary expenditure for the research program will be provided from the Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES). Dr. Md. Harun-Ur-Rashid, Head of the Department of Dairy Science was appointed as Chairman and Professor of Department of Dairy Science Prof Dr. Mohammad Ashiqul Islam as Member Secretary of the task force. Other members of the taskforce are Professor of Dairy Science Md. Nurul Islam, Director of BAURES Prof. Dr. M. A. M. Yahia Khandoker, Professor of Microbiology and Hygiene Department S. M. Lutful Kabir, Professor of Agricultural Chemistry Dr. Razia Sultana and Professor of the Department of Pharmacology Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam.
