The Resource Development Foundation (RDF) awarded the ‘Resource Development Award’ to two teachers of the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) for their special contribution in research development.
The award was given to the former teacher of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology of the university Prof Dr. Shamsul Alam and professor of Horticulture Department Dr Md Abdur Rahim.
The information was released from the Public Relations and Publications Office of the university on Tuesday.
The reward including crest, certificate and money were officially handed over at the NEC conference room of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka on Monday. Four students of the university were given scholarships on the same occasion.
Member of the General Economics Department (Senior Secretary) Professor Dr. Shamsul Alam has also been nominated for ‘Amar Ekushey Padak 2020’. He is also associated with the Sixth and Seventh ‘Five Year Plan’ and centennial ‘Delta Plan’ of the Government.
On the other hand, Professor Dr. Abdur Rahim is currently serving as the Director of the ‘BAU Germplasm’. About the award, he said, ‘Any award is an inspiration. I have been researching for BAU and have come up with the name of this university. All members of the agricultural family are the parts of this achievement. In particular, we are working on nutritional security for the poorest of the poor. I dedicated my achievement to these people.’
