Railway Minister Attends Reception in Rohanpur

Chapai Nawabgonj, March 12 (Nuhu Alam, Gomastapur Correspondent/ OurVoice): Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan MP visits Rohanpur railway station in Chapai Nawabgonj today.
He arrives in Rajshahi by air from Dhaka on Friday morning. He reaches Rohanpur railway station by special train from Rajshahi at noon. There he attends a public reception by the local Awami League.
Meanwhile, Ziaur Rahman, former MP from Chapai Nawabginj, met him at the secretariat on Tuesday and confirmed his visit. On the occasion a celebrating mood is prevailing in the area centering his tour. Former MP Rahman is expected to present about 20 demands from his constituency to him. The demands are to transform Rohanpur railway station into a full-fledged modern railway station, increase the yard at Rohanpur railway station, clear the illegally occupied railway land around the railway station, facilities for unloading goods from India and reopening all trains including the closed local trains on Ishwardi-Raohanpur route, launching of Bangladesh-India-Nepal Friendship Train, construction of shed at west side of Punang and Rohanpur stations at Nachol station, re-issuance of allotted tickets for trains from Rohanpur to Dhaka and reallocation of AC tickets, provision of drinking water at Rohanpur and Nachol railway stations, construction of gate and appointment of gatemen, construction of office facilities of Nachol railway station master and allotment of tickets to Dhaka-bound passengers, construction of railway market at Rohanpur and Nachol railway stations, construction of breastfeeding chambers at railway stations and arrangement of car parking, Rohanpur-Dhaka-Rohanpur direct trains, arrangement to start night train from railway station to Rohanpur and freight train from India to Rohanpur, construction of the new Rohanpur-Santahar railway line, proposed during the British rule, which did not last long. It may be mentioned that the railway has total property of 37.7 acres from Golabari of Rohanpur-Amanura railway line to Shibrampur via Rohanpur on the border of India. The rest of the property is evicted. Of this, 0.45 acres had been leased for commercial use. Besides, 81.24 acres of agricultural land had been leased, 12.01 acres as water body and 5.03 acres of fertilizer warehouse of BADC leased. There are 54.14 acres of fallow land and 6.18 acres of illegally occupied land. A report had been published in various local and national newspapers regarding the activities of illegal occupants of railway land in Raohanpur railway station area.
