Dhaka, September 22 (IPR/OurVoice): If you are 18 or above and have profound knowledge of Bangladesh – the milestones she has reached in 47 years into her independence and the junctures where she met with failures and how they shaped our identity, position and wellbeing – then Bangladesh Jiggasha is for you.
Prominent Television channel Independent TV is set to air the quiz show on every Friday and Saturday at 10 in the night from the coming October 12. The champion will be entitled to a bounty of Tk 1 crore. Any Bangladeshi citizen aged 18 or above can register online between September 19 and 10:00PM of September 27.
The announcement was jointly made by M Shamsur Rahman, CEO and editor-in-chief, Independent TV, and Shah A Sarwar, managing director and CEO of IFIC Bank, Sponsor Company of the quiz show, at the office of Independent Television in the capital’s Tejgaon. Khaled Muhiddun, executive editor of Independent Television responded to the queries made by journalists.
Each episode of the quiz Bangladesh Jiggasha will entitle participants to different sums of prize money, said the speakers. All the awards, put together, will amount to Tk 1 crore and 77 lacs. In addition, the spectators will also receive attractive gifts.
The online registration form has already been opened for the participants on the web page www.bangladeshjiggasha.com, Independent TV’s website www.independent24.com and its Facebook page www.facebook.com/IndependentTVNews.
A window for the online exam will be opened on the ‘Bangladesh Jiggasha’ web page on September 28, 29, and 30. Registered candidates can log in and have to complete the exam within the time limit. One participant cannot register more than once. The schedule for the online competition will be announced via the news and social media.
Candidates accomplishing the online round will qualify for the divisional round of the quiz. Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Rangpur will host their respective divisional rounds simultaneously. A total of 64 participants, eight from each division, will qualify for ‘Bangladesh Jiggasha’ stage.
The champion will be entitled to Tk 1 crore, first runner-up Tk 25 lacs. The second and third runner-ups will receive Tk 15 and 5 lacs respectively. Each semi-finalist will get Tk 2 lacs and each quarter finalist 1 lac. Second round qualifiers will get Tk 50,000 each and first round qualifiers Tk 25,000 each.
