Online Seminar on Higher Education Held at NSU

Dhaka, August 16 (Correspondent/OurVoice): To develop the students’ skills, the Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML) of North South University (NSU) organized an online seminar entitled “How to Get Scholarship and Job for Higher Studies in Europe, USA, and Canada” on Thursday.
Md. Shahinur Alam Johnny was the Keynote Speaker of this web-based seminar and Mehedi Hasan, Senior Lecturer, DEML, NSU, hosted the event.
The Keynote Speaker Shahinur Alam, who is currently working as the Technical Solutions and Program Director of LM Ericsson, Europe, completed the General Management Program, one of the reputed and competitive executive education programs, from the world’s elite business school Harvard Business School. He got the experience of learning with executive leaders worldwide at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He achieved substantial understanding and knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technologies and Digital Marketing Analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The seminar was specially arranged for the students, who want to pursue their degrees abroad. After studying in different colleges and universities in Bangladesh, a large number of students want to pursue their higher education from the European or North American countries. While pursuing their higher education, many students look for part-time or full-time job opportunities to afford their accommodation and study cost. Due to the lack of accurate information or guidelines, the dream of pursuing higher studies abroad gets shattered. The Keynote-Speaker Alam addressed these issues and talked about the steps to follow to chase the dream. In the second phase of the talk, he mentioned five criteria for getting scholarships at prominent universities worldwide: a handsome GRE or IELTS or SAT score, a well-written SOP (Statement of Purpose), extraordinary LOR (Letter of Recommendation) from the supervisors or instructors, an excellent academic result or CGPA, and last but not least, research or work experience. Instead of rushing to credit transfers to universities outside the country, he suggested pursuing higher studies abroad after completing undergraduate or postgraduate education in their home country and focusing more on academic research and skill development. He also presented all relevant information, such as IELTS and GRE, criteria to select the countries based on students’ living suitability, a list of all the best universities globally and some topics regarding the enrichment of student profile or CV for application.
