Newborn Rescued from Creek at Gomastapur

Chapai Nawabgonj, February 24 (Nuhu Alam, Gomastapur Correspondent/ OurVoice): Locals rescued a one-day baby girl from a creek at Gomastapur in Chapai Nawabgonj. 

The newborn was rescued from Kamar Bari creek in Meherpur village under Parbatipur union of the upazila on Wednesday. Hasina, 40, wife of Abdul Malek of Meherpur village, said, she heard the baby crying when she went to pick peas in the land around the creek on Wednesday. She later rescued her and brought her to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty at the hospital Dr. Lincoln said, the baby got admitted to the hospital after initial treatment. 

The baby is currently well. Amina Begum, a senior staff nurse at the hospital, breastfed the baby. Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mizanur Rahman went to the hospital in the afternoon to see the child and bought her clothes. He said, the matter was reported to the higher authorities and necessary steps would be taken in this regard later.
