IU Teacher Gets Sahitto Diganta Award

Kushtia, April 04 (Correspondent/OurVoice): Dr M Baki Billah Bekul, Associate Professor of Bangla Department of Islamic University received ‘Sahitto Diganta Award 2020’ for his contribution on literature.
He was given this award for his dissertation on the book ‘Abinashi Rabindranath’ on Rabindranath Tagore.
The award was handed over in a function held in the capital on Saturday. The author, however, could not go to Dhaka to collect the prize due to the sudden increase of COVID-19 pandemic.
Prominent poet of Bangladesh Zayed Hossain Lucky, Bangla Academy Award winning writer Rezauddin Stalin, Bangla Academy Deputy Director Dr Shahadat Hossain Nipu, researcher Rahima Akhter Kalpana and Ziaul Haque were present on the occasion.
Receiving the award, Baki Billah Bekul said, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those, who have given me this award. Rewards have always increased my passion for work. In this case, I hope my scope of work will increase.”
“I hope to do various things in the literary field in the future. May the source of light of the world be the inspiration for all,” he added.
Baki Billah had, earlier, won the ‘Bengali Voice Award 2018’ and the ‘Poet Omar Ali Award’. He has already written more than 30 books on essays, poetry and short stories.
