IU Students Demand Reopening of Uni Halls

Kushtia, May 24 (Correspondent/OurVoice): A group of students of Islamic University demonstrated on the campus in Kushtia on Monday demanding reopening of residential halls and the university.

Around 60 students from different departments gathered in front of the university’s administration building and formed a human chain there with banners and festoons around 11:00am.

Addressing the human chain, the agitating students raised different charter of demands including resuming educational activities at all educational institutions, reopening of halls, taking preparation to hold examinations of all sessions and vaccinating the students.

The students said that everything is going on in the country without educational activities. The University Grants Commission decided to take exam online without thinking about the students. Many students would not be able to answer the questions within the stipulated time due to the weak internet connection.

They wanted to appear at the exams directly rather than online.

They would go for a tougher movement if their demands were not met, the students said.

Mustafizur Rahman, a student of Arabic language and literature department, Nazmul Mollah of Islamic history and culture department of Islam, Shyamoli Tanzin Anu of Bangla department, Shahadat Hossain Razim of statistics department and among others took part in the human chain.
