A section of Islamic University Officers’ Association observed work abstention programme for the second consecutive day on the campus in Kushtia on Tuesday demanding 13-point charter of demands.
Around one hundred officers of different offices observed the work abstention programme in front of the university’s administrative building from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
The administrative activities have remained halted for due to the work abstention programme of the association.
They demanded 13-point charter of demands including increasing salary, raising age limit for retirement to 62 from 60 years, and changing working hours from 9am-4:30pm to 8am-2pm.
The officers threatened to go on tougher movement if their demands were not met soon, IU officers’ association president Shamsul Islam Zoha said.
IU pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, also the acting vice-chancellor, said that they we were not know about the demands of the officials. They would accept their demands If the demands were as per role complying with the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education, he added.
