IU English department gets new chairman

Kushtia, January 02 (Correspondent/OurVoice): Professor M Maher Ali was made the new chairman of English department of Islamic University in Kushtia on Saturday.
IU vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam appointed him to the post for the next three years, IU acting registrar M Ataur Rahman said.
He was appointed to the post as the tenure of previous chairperson Professor Mosammad Salma Sultana has been completed, he added.
A charge handing-over ceremony was held at Rabindra-Nazrul Kala Bhaban on the campus in the morning. IU English department assistant professor Prokash Chandra Biswas moderated the programme.
Among others, IU English department Professor M Mizanur Rahman, Professor M Mamunur Rahman, Professor Shahadat Hossain Azad, among others, were present on the occasion.
Prior to the post, Professor M Maher Ali was the director of Institute of Islamic Education and Research of the university.
The newly appointed chairman said that he would work for the betterment of the department with the assistance of teachers and students of the university.
