Kushtia, July 4 (IU Correspondent/OurVoice): The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushita on Friday suspended Dr M M Rahman from the post of Director of Teacher-Student Cultural Centre (TSCC) of the university after the allegation of having his phone call audio scandal with a female student viral on social media.
The authorities issued also a show-cause notice to him. The authorities served the show-cause notice on him asking him why the final legal action would not be taken against him within seven days of receiving the notice.
A three-member probe committee was also formed against him to investigate into the matter.
Dr. M Rahman is Professor of English Department of the University. IU Vice-Chancellor Dr. M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari formed the body headed by IU Law Faculty Dean Khalima Khatun against Dr. Rahman as an audio scandal containing unethical conversation between M Rahman and a female student went viral on Facebook pages, said IU Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif.
Other members of the probe body were – IU Management Department Professor M Saiful Islam and Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall Provost Dr Shelina Nasrin.
The body was asked to submit its report as early as possible.
IU Vice-Chancellor said, ‘This sort of incident puts us all to shame. Islamic University maintains zero tolerance towards any kind of moral turpitude. The case is under investigation. We’ll take further action after getting the report of the probe committee.’
On June 30, an audio scandal containing abusive conversation allegedly between Dr Rahman and a female student went viral on social media Facebook where he invoked the student coming to his home to commit an illicit act there.
