Foundation Stone of Two Halls Laid at Islamic University

Kushtia, October 14 (Correspondent/OurVoice): The foundation stones of two ten-storeyed, one male and one female, halls were laid at Islamic University in Kushtia on Wednesday amid festive mood and much enthusiasm.
Awami League Joint General Secretary and lawmaker for Kushtia-3 Mahbubul Alam Hanif laid the foundation stone of ten-storeyed halls adjacent to the university’s Lalon Shah Hall and Sheikh Hasina Hall of the university.
A total of one thousand male and one thousand female students could reside in these halls, IU treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya said.
The building will have students room, guest room, provost office, house tutor rooms, reading room, library, etc.
The name of the halls would be finalised after completing the construction work of the halls, he said.
Earlier, a discussion meeting on the occasion of inaugurating the halls was held, where Mahbubul Alam Hanif spoke as the chief guest with IU VC Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam in the chair.
IU pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, Kushtia-4 MP Barrister Selim Altaf George, former treasurer Professor M Selim Toha and acting registrar M Ataur Rahman spoke as the special guests.
IU Folklore Studies department chairman Dr. Mostafizur Rahman conducted the programme.
Addressing the programme, Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, “The destruction of education system means the destruction of a nation. We need quality graduate students to implement the dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
He urged all to work for the development of the country, where there will be no communal conflict among us.
Around one hundred teachers and more than two thousand students from different departments took part in the programme.
