Mymensingh, August 22 (BAU Correspondent, Our Voice): The first year female students of Begum Rokeya Hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) staged protests demanding the solution of residential and water crisis.
They blocked the main road in front of their hall on Thursday. While protesting, the Hall Tutor Dr F M Jamil Uddin took the students to their residential place at BAU health care center to see their problems.
The protesting female students complained, ‘We were facing some problems due to being in the health care center. Among the major problems, water crisis became the main issue. Moreover, we were suffering from insecurity due to the frequent crowds of patients. Besides, there are no dining and canteen facilities. We are deprived of hall facilities due to being in health care center.’
While students were protesting, Assistant Proctor Dr Md Shahidul Alam, Hall Tutor of Begum Rokeya Hall Dr F M Jamil Uddin and Isha Kha Hall Provost Prof Md Ashraful Haque went there and assured to solve the problems.
The Provost of Begum Rokeya Hall Prof Dr Mohammad Jiaul Hoque said, ‘The water crisis of the health care center was due to the blockage of water pipes. The problem will be solved very quickly. The fourth and fifth floors of the hall are under construction. When the construction is finished, the residential problem will be solved.’
