Kushtia, September 30 (OurVoice)- Assistant Professor Dr. M Mustafizur Rahman has been appointed as the new chairman of folklore studies department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed him to the post for the next three years, said SM Abdul Latif, acting registrar of the university. He was appointed to the post as the tenure of the previous chairman Professor M Saidur Rahaman of Bangla Department concluded.
Dr Rahman joined the department as Lecturer on July 15 last year. Last July he was promoted as Assistant Professor. Along with the great profession of teaching and research, he works as senior media professional in different national and international news media. He is also acting Editor in the popular Daily Bangladesh Shomoi.
For his joining as Chairman of the Folklore Studies Department IU VC Prof Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, Pro-VC Prof Dr Md Shahinur Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr Salim Toha, university deans, heads of departments and teachers congratulated Dr Rahman and wished him best of successes.
Dr. Mostafizur Rahman alias Mithun Mostafiz said, his main focus and highest effort would remain to ensure the quality education and to ensure the highest standard of the research and education in the department complying with the expectation of the academic experts and guardians. He would work for the betterment of the department with the assistance of teachers, students and all concerned with the university.
