Mymensingh, February 5 (BAU Correspondent/OurVoice): Scientists Dr Mirza Mofazzal Islam officially joined as the Director (Administration and Support Service) of Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) on Tuesday.
He was appointed to the post by the Ministry of Agriculture on January 29.
He served as the Head of the Biotechnology Department of the institute for about five years. He also served as the Head of Plant Breeding Department and Chief Scientific Officer for more than four years. He visited fifteen countries including the United States, Austria, and Denmark to present research findings in various seminars, symposiums, workshops, meetings and projects. He has worked as a consultant and specialist on nuclear agriculture research in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Sierra Leone under the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He has published 141 research articles in the recognized journals at home and abroad. He added a chapter in a book by `Taylor and Francis’ on the molecular and physiological mechanisms of salinity tolerant crops.
