A month-long iftar distribution programme organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of ruling Awami League, was going on on the occasion of Holy Ramadan at Madhur Canteen on Dhaka University campus.

As part of the month-long iftar distribution programme, BCL distributed the iftar materials among the general students.

They distributed the iftar materials among the students on behalf of Prime Minister Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, BCL central committee’s social service affairs secretary Shaikh Shadhin M Shahed said.

Seating arrangements had been made for the students and none of them were filmed while distributing the iftar materials and their identities had also been kept hidden.

The programme started under the leadership of Bangladesh Chhatra League president Al Nahian Khan Joy and its general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee, he said.

The month-long programme would end with the distribution of semai and sweets on Eid Day, he added.

BCL social service affairs secretary Shaikh Shadhin M Shahed and its religion affairs secretary Tuhin Reza are jointly coordinating with the students.

Around five hundred students were seen gathering in front of the Madhur Canteen to take part in the iftar distribution programme.

BCL general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee said that they had arranged the iftar distribution campaign considering the urgent needs of every student. They were trying to make a non-communal Bangladesh, where there would be no discrimination among the people of the country, he added. BCL president Al Nahian Khan Joy said that Bangladesh Chhatra League stood beside the students not only during the Covid-19 period but also at any time. The iftar distribution campaign was a proof of that, he added.
