Bangladesh Agriculture Journalist Association (BAUJA) formed human chain protesting the temporary expulsion and harassment from the university of the student and Journalist of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) Fatema Tuz-Zinia. The human chain took place at the Student Teachers Center (TSC) of the university on Thursday.
Speakers on the human chain said, we want justice for Zinia. We strongly condemn the expulsion and harassment of her. Besides, we claim punishment for those involved in the attack on Shams Jabin.
It is to be noted that Fatema Tuz-Zinia, a second year student of Departmentof Law and the journalist of the Daily Sun, was temporarily expelled by the university authorities on September 11. Then an audio conversation between Zinia and VC of the university spread through social media. So a wave of criticism and condemnation came out from students and journalists. In the meantime, Zinia’s expulsion was withdrawn on September 18.
In the human chain, speakers demand for the resignation of VC of BSMRSTU Prof Khandaker Nasir Uddin and to ensure the environment of independent journalism in all campuses across the country.
