Basanta Utsab Celebrated at IU

A day-long Basanta Utsab was held at the Islamic University in Kushtia on Saturday amid festive mood and much enthusiasm.

IU Bangla department organised the Basanta Utsab celebration programme at Bangla Moncha adjacent to the university’s arts faculty building.

Marking the day, the teachers, students, officials and staff brought out a colourful procession, led by Bangla Department Chairman Professor M Saidur Rahman on the campus.

Among others, IU Syndicate Member Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, Bangla Department teachers Professor Gautom Kumar Das, Professor Rabiul Islam Onu, Professor Baki Billah Bikul, and Professor Rashiduzzaman were present on the occasion.

The procession ended at Bangla Moncha after parading main roads of the campus. A discussion programme was held there. IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the programme as the chief guest while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Shahinoor Rahman and Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha spoke as special guests.

Later, teachers and students of IU entertained the audience presenting songs, recitation and other cultural performance. Around one thousand students of different departments thronged to the venue to enjoy the event.
