Bangladesh Contesting in ICSD Election

Dhaka, October 6 (ICSD/OurVoice): Bangladesh is contesting in the executive council election of the International Consortium for Social Development- ICSD, Australia, a professional platform of scholars on international social development affairs across the globe.

United States-based Noble International University-NIU Visiting Professor Dr. Mostafizur Rahman also known as Mithun Mostafiz, an academic and a television professional is representing the country for the Vice-President position of the global social development think-tank. He is also Chairman of the Department of Folklore Studies of Islamic University Bangladesh and the incumbent Digital Media Advisor of ICSD, Australia since 2019.

Social Development professionals from multi-disciplines including educators, practitioners, schools of social workers, non-government organizations and social science learners will cast vote on digital platform until October 10 for the executive council of ICSD. In an official statement ICSD nomination committee said, a total of 18 aspirants are contesting for eight executive positions including President, Vice- President and six Members at Large.

Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Prof. Dr. Roar Sundby led the Election Commission, while USA-based social development expert Dr. Freddi Wilson and Indian development specialist Dr. Paromita Roy are members in the board. Regarding the organization, ICSD President Prof. Dr. Manohar Pawer said, ‘the multi-disciplinary platform will contribute to social development across the globe establishing peace by research and dialogue sharing knowledge on social work education.’

Asked about the global forum’s election, Vice President aspirant Dr. Mithun Mostafiz said, ‘It is indeed my honour and privilege to compete for the position in the ICSD executive council on behalf Bangladesh. If all our learned members allow me to serve them, I would tremendously be blessed to do so.’’

The consortium fosters collaboration among personnel of organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Council- ECOSOC, global universities as well as professional associations in the human services and institutions of higher education and learning.
