Frankfurt, October 14 (OurVoice): Bangabandhu Book Fair (BBF) and Cultural Function against Right-Extremism and Racism were held in the commercial city Frankfurt in Germany on Sunday. The Member of Provincial Parliament in Hessen Gernot Grumbach attended the function as chief guest, while Chief Patron of BBF Hamidul Khan was in the chair. President of BBF Akramuzzaman alias Kamal Bhuiyan presented welcome address in the function moderated by journalist Hossain Abdul Hai.
In the function speakers stressed on the secular and non-violent principle of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and urged the reflection and wide dissemination of his life and ideology for the mutual respect and tolerance among the people of different races and nations in the present globalised time and place. Speakers said, to avoid the misunderstanding and extremist attitude to each other, it is important to create the opportunity of meeting and entertainment among the people of different national identities. The social education and moral values on human rights and social equality in every sphere can ensure the peaceful and progressive unity and harmony, they added. Speakers also urged the international community to stand hard against the ethnic cleansing and brutal torture on Rohinga community in the Rakhine Region in Myanmar.
In order to bring the expatriates and mainstream people of Germany to cultural exchange the function included the book exhibition, traditional and folk songs, literary and academic presentation, poem recitation, chorus songs and panel discussion. Renowned musicians Michael Peglow, Shatabdi Kor, Abdul Munim, Jalal Abedin, Nimmi Quader, Real Anowar, Farzana Talukder Shaela and Zahra Uddin. Artist and poet Mir Zabeda Yeasmin Imi and Hossain Abdul Hai recited own poems on the main topic of the event. Moreover, Laboni Bhuiyan recited the poem “Alo”. Dr Monika Carbe, Muepu Muamba, Karlheinz Platz and Publisher of Ongkur Publications Mesbah Uddin took part in the panel discussion on Cultural and Socio-political Perspectives of extremism and Racism. The representatives from the Green Party Miriam Dahlke, from CDU Christiane Schubring, from SPD Stephanie Mohr-Hauke took part in the panel discussion on political perspectives of the extremism and racism in Germany.
